It needed a moment of magic for the hosts to get back on level terms, and Gvardiol was the man to provide that as he waltzed into the penalty area and dispatched coolly for 1-1 in the 23rd minute.
Zlatko Dalic’s men went on to win 3-1 to qualify, and Gvardiol was easily the biggest standout on the pitch as he had a 95% pass completion rate, 100% dribble completion rate, seven clearances, eight recoveries and four ground duels won of four attempted.
