Aston Villa’s big spending this summer is set to continue after they finalise the signing of Tyrone Ming, according to Noel Whelan.
The ex-Leeds United and Coventry City striker has told Football Insider the Midlands giants are “really going for it” this summer and he is convinced there are more expensive recruits to come.
Villa have followed up their return to the Premier League by signing six new players, with Mings the latest capture after they agreed a fee of £20million rising to £26million with Bournemouth.
The move takes Villa’s summer spending beyond £50m after the club previously acquired Anwar El Ghazi, Matt Targett, Kortney Hause, Jota and the striker Wesley Moraes.
“Villa are really going for it,” Whelan told Football Insider. “They have spent money in key areas and brought in real quality. From what you hear, their spending is far from over.
“I’m sure Dean Smith is working hard with the board to bring in more new players, and they will be spend big to get them. There will definitely be more bodies coming in this window.”
Villa have been one of the most active Premier League clubs this summer despite only securing their return to the top flight at the end of May.
They have smashed their old transfer record on two occasions, through the captures of Mings from Bournemouth and Wesley Moraes for £22million from Club Brugge.
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have made a move to sign a newly-available Premier League striker with great scoring record.
