Whelan Exclusive: Leeds 'Desperate' to sign £35m-valued star
Noel Whelan has pleaded with Leeds United to sign £35million-valued Ben White permanently after their narrow victory at Swansea on Sunday.
The former Leeds and Coventry striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed that Liam Cooper and White, 22, have formed the “best partnership” in the Championship this season.
Andre Ayew and Rhian Brewster have been in electric form for the Swans of late with the latter having scored eight goals since he joined on loan from Liverpool in January.
However, they could not find a way through a stubborn Leeds defence who recorded their 20th clean sheet of the season – the league’s most.
However, the Championship leaders face a big challenge in trying to sign White permanently this summer with Liverpool just one of the clubs closely monitoring the Brighton defender.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Cooper and White’s performance at the Liberty Stadium, Whelan said: “It was a different proposition to Vokes and Campbell that’s for sure.

“Ayew and Brewster are a handful and they are intelligent. The second half we dominated them though.
“Cooper and White have been the best defensive partnership all season.
“Another clean sheet on the board. They are proving to be a fantastic partnership which is why we desperately do not want to break them up for next year.”
Football Insider understands that Brighton want £35million for the English defender given his outstanding performances while on loan at Leeds this season.
White has made 46 appearances for the Whites this season.
