Noel Whelan has tipped Marcelo Bielsa to keep Mateusz Klich on the Leeds United bench by naming an unchanged starting XI v Fulham.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the Whites did not need to switch anything up after a “professional” display against Chelsea.
Klich was dropped from the line-up against the Blues, although he did feature as a substitute for just over 10 minutes.
The 0-0 draw was the first time Leeds have shared the points since the 0-0 with Arsenal back in November.
Whelan heralded the “fantastic” performance of centre-back pair Pascal Struijk, 21, and Diego Llorente, 27, against Thomas Tuchel’s men.
As such, he has tipped Bielsa to name an unchanged line-up versus the Cottagers.
Asked if he expected Klich to return to the side, Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I don’t think so. I think we probably keep what we had in the game against Chelsea. I think it works, I think we’ve got loads of energy.
“Defensively the discipline was excellent on the night. I think it was a really good, hard-working, honest, professional defensive display again a very good Chelsea.
“They made six changes but still didn’t look weakened at any stage. It had to be done for 93 minutes.
“I thought that was probably the best, disciplined defensive display I’ve seen for a long time from a Leeds United side. It had to be.
“What we have seen is Struijk and Llorente looked fantastic against Chelsea. Very assured, very aggressive, good partnership and good balance between the two of them. That looks like a relationship that could flourish.”
