Whelan verdict on Harrison returning for Leeds v West Ham after update
Noel Whelan has tipped Marcelo Bielsa to leave the returning Jack Harrison on the bench for Leeds United against West Ham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Leeds striker suggested the Argentine should snub the 24-year-old in favour of Dan James and Raphinha.
As quoted by Leeds Live (23rd September), Bielsa revealed Harrison’s enforced period of self-isolation has come to an end.
However, the Leeds boss insisted Harrison being available again does not mean he is ready to play against the Hammers.
The winger has been a virtual ever-present throughout Bielsa’s reign but missed the games against Newcastle United and Fulham.
Whelan suggested he would have to settle for a place among the substitutes for West Ham’s visit to Elland Road.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s one of those, you need to look at Raphinha as well. Is he going to be okay for the game as well?
“If Raphinha’s fit, he plays on the right, if Dan James is good to go, I’d stick with Dan James. I think he needs that game time.
“He’s been playing regularly enough, he got the match minutes the other night as well. I think you’ve got to still be a little bit cautious with Jack Harrison coming through.
“He may have to stay on the bench, it might be one of those. There are many different ways you can tinker around with that front four, in my opinion.
“I think they’re all technically good enough to play in a number 10 role or across that front line.
“You look at Jack Harrison, he has been training throughout the week, obviously isolated.
“I think you’ve got to go with the players that have been playing in the full training session.”
