When Eberechi Eze is expected to complete Arsenal move as deal and medical details emerge

Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Eberechi Eze after dramatically hijacking a move from their North London rivals Tottenham.

Mikel Arteta’s side have already enjoyed a busy summer transfer window, with Arsenal bringing in Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres to strengthen key areas of the squad.

However, the mood was dampened on 20 August when it was confirmed that Kai Havertz had suffered a knee injury, ruling him out for a lengthy spell.

After the frustrations of last January, when a lack of depth combined with injuries disrupted their momentum, Arsenal have moved quickly this time to avoid history repeating itself.

Reports suggest Arsenal are closing in on a deal to sign Eze, who had been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham. While a deal was close, their North London rivals have stepped in at the final stages to prise him away.

Further details of the agreement has since emerged, as Arteta looks to secure another major addition to his squad.

Eberechi Eze set to join Arsenal after Europa Conference League tie

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Arsenal have already reached an agreement with Crystal Palace, with Eze expected to complete his move after the South London side face Fredrikstad in the Conference League tonight (21 August).

He added that a medical is scheduled for Friday (22 August) and the overall package is worth £68 million – the same figure as his release clause which expired before the start of the season.

Football Insider revealed back in July that Arsenal had a strong interest in Eze but at the time were reluctant to meet the clause in full. Now, with Tottenham having moved first, the Gunners have swooped in and agreed to pay the asking price Palace had been holding out for.

The 27-year-old cemented his place in Palace folklore last season when he scored the winning goal against Manchester City in the FA Cup final, but tonight’s fixture at Selhurst Park is expected to be his farewell.

Crystal Palace to receive £68 million fee but time ticking to sign replacement

While Oliver Glasner’s side will be pleased to receive a £68 million package, they now have just 11 days left before the window closes to secure a replacement.

Football Insider report that Crystal Palace are plotting a move for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss but face stiff competition for his signature.

Leeds and Newcastle have also shown interest in the playmaker, meaning the Eagles may need to act quickly if they want to avoid losing out on their preferred target.
