When Jack Grealish could make Everton debut after completing Man City switch

Everton supporters will be eagerly anticipating the debut of Jack Grealish after the midfielder joined the Toffees on loan from Manchester City.

Grealish was frozen out by Pep Guardiola at Man City, and left out of their Club World Cup squad this summer prompting a move away for the 29-year-old.

Spurs were linked with a move for Grealish amid James Maddison’s long-term injury blow, but David Moyes and Everton have won the race for the former Aston Villa star.

Grealish came through the youth system at Aston Villa before rising to become a first team player for the club and his performances earned him a £100million to Man City in 2021.

With the start of the Premier League season fast approaching, Everton fans may not have to wait long to see Grealish in action.

The Toffees head to promoted Leeds United for the final clash on the opening weekend fixture list, where Grealish could make his debut.

Given his lack of minutes though in the past season for Man City, Moyes may begin by utilising Grealish off the bench.

Everton’s first competitive fixture at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium is against Brighton, and Grealish will be eager to participate in that contest.

Football Insider Verdict

Everton fans were worried when Moyes mentioned the need for up to six new signings, and whilst there is still work do in the transfer market for the club, adding Grealish is an excellent addition.

Grealish has plenty of creative and technical ability, experience and a winning mentality.

The midfielder can play centrally or out wide, adding options for Moyes to use at his disposal.

Everton have shown ambition with this signing and the acquisition of Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The ambition matches a new era for the club moving into their new stadium and Everton should only be looking up the table and not down.

Grealish will not have joined to participate in a relegation fight, although he has experience of that scenario at Aston Villa.

Match fitness is now key for Grealish and once back up to speed, the 29-year-old should be a key player under Moyes on Merseyside.
