Why Arsenal should fear this 29-year-old PSG ace

COMMENT By Dominic Toner

Arsenal must be wary of Paris-Saint Germain forward Edinson Cavani on Wednesday night.

The Gunners host the French side in the Champions League group stages and the two teams are vying for top spot in the group, with both already sealing qualification for the knockout rounds.

Arsene Wenger’s side earned a 1-1 draw in Paris during the reverse fixture, but Cavani opened the scoring after just 42 seconds.

The 29-year-old has been in phenomenal form this season, scoring 15 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.

The Uruguayan international has become PSG’s frontline attacker this campaign after the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the summer to Manchester United.

Cavani already has five Champions League goals this season and the Arsenal defence will need to be wary of his presence.

Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi are likely to form the Gunners centre-back partnership for a fifth consecutive game.

Cavani has been a crucial player for PSG since he arrived he arrived from Napoli for £55million in 2013.

The forward is incredibly strong on the ball and proven to be a lethal finisher in front of goal, scoring 96 goals in 163 appearances for the French champions.

He helped his side eliminate Chelsea from the competition last season in the last 16 by scoring in the home leg and also scored against the Blues in the previous campaign.

Cavani will be hoping to terrorise the defence of an English team once again and is in the perfect form to do so.
