'Clutching' - Chris Sutton slaughters Motherwell on Twitter after Celtic statement
Chris Sutton has once again used social media to wade into the controversy surrounding the penalty awarded to Celtic in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Motherwell.
It looked as if Celtic’s lengthy unbeaten run would come to an end when Mikael Lustig put through his own net, but a foul on Callum McGregor allowed Scott Sinclair the chance to smash home the equaliser and extend Celtic’s run to 66 games undefeated.
Motherwell were furious about this decision and the penalty awarded in Sunday’s Betfred Cup Final, and last night they released a statement about the penalties.
Sutton, who didn’t think the incident in Sunday’s game was a penalty, took to his official Twitter account to castigte the Fir Park side’s complaints regarding the incident in Wednesday’s game.
He opined: “Why don’t people talk about the stupid challenge?? Motherwell clutching here…McGregor doesn’t dive…Pushed… penalty.”

The penalty talk will be set to run for at least another day or two, as Celtic face Motherwell tomorrow at Celtic Park in the third meeting between the sides in six days.
