Why Everton should sign this reportedly available Holland defender
COMMENT By Dominic Toner
Everton should make a move for Manchester United defender Daley Blind as a report claims he is set to leave Old Trafford in the summer.
The Sun claim that the 26-year-old will be one of the first-team players shipped out by Jose Mourinho in the next transfer window.
The report details that the Holland international is under contract with the Red Devils until 2018, but they will look to sell him in the summer.
Everton should pounce on the defender’s situation and make him a marquee signing at Goodison Park.
The Toffees should look to bolster their defensive options if they are to compete with the ‘top six’ in the Premier League and Dutch manager Ronald Koeman will know all about Blind’s qualities.

Blind is a versatile defender that can be used as either a centre-back or left-back, something he has switched between for United.
Everton recently signed Morgan Schneiderlin from United in the summer and are now looking to get the best out of him.
They could do a similar thing with Blind, who has shown in patches his qualities in English football.
Koeman will need a successor for ageing Leighton Baines, while there is certainly a gap for a top centre-back to fill in the starting line-up alongside Ashley Williams.
Blind is extremely comfortable on the ball and would be able to fit into Koeman’s possession-based style of play.
The Dutchman has made 118 appearances during his time with United and would be a great addition to the Merseyside club if they pursue his signature.
They look set to finish seventh-placed this season in the league table, but need to be signing players of Blind’s calibre in the summer if they are to kick on and push for a Champions League spot with the elite clubs.
In other Everton transfer news, they have agreed the terms of a new striker deal.
