Why Everton talisman can capitalise on this Arsenal weakness

COMMENT By Dominic Toner

Everton forward Romelu Lukaku should be able to benefit from a disrupted Arsenal defence on Tuesday night, with regular centre-back Shkodran Mustafi absent with a hamstring injury.

The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be forced to change a settled defence as they travel to Goodison Park for a Premier League clash.

Arsenal are likely to play Gabriel at centre-back in the starting line up and he will form a partnership alongside Laurent Koscielny.

Lukaku should be looking forward to the league meeting and must target Gabriel, who has been filling in for Hector Bellerin in recent games.

Arsenal regular Koscielny is one of the best defenders in the league because of his pace and football brain, but Lukaku should be able to find some luck against the inconsistent Gabriel.

The Gunners will be frustrated that they have to break up such a strong centre-back partnership and that is something that could certainly be utilised.

Lukaku will be be confident going into the game after his performance on Saturday in the 3-2 defeat against Watford.

The 23-year-old scored twice and was the club’s standout player in a disappointing result for manager Ronald Koeman.

He has continued to be a threat in front of goal this season despite Everton’s inconsistent form, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.

The Belgian international will be crucial if the Toffees are to pull of an upset against an in-form Arsenal side, but certainly have a natural goalscorer in Lukaku in their team.

In other Everton news, Ray Parlour claims that the club’s summer signing has not stepped up yet.
