Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has been proved right to stick with Christian Eriksen this season as he delivered a man-of-the-match performance against Hull on Wednesday night.
The 24-year-old has been under severe criticism this season for some of his performances and some fans have been calling for him to be axed from the starting XI in recent months.
He has been accused of being too inconsistent and his first Premier League goal of the season did not come until a blistering strike against Chelsea on 26 November.
Eriksen has enjoyed a remarkable U-turn in form since the Chelsea goal and scored five times in his last four appearances in the league.
The Denmark international scored either side of half-time in the 3-0 victory against Hull in the Premier League and was extremely close to a hat-trick, but goalkeeper David Marshall parried his free-kick and Victor Wanyama tapped in a third.
He is now beginning to show some consistency in front of goal and is giving Spurs some much-needed threat from midfield, with forward Harry Kane being relied upon too much earlier this season.
Pochettino is a big fan of Eriksen and has stuck with the attacking midfielder despite his dip in form this campaign.
The creative midfielder appears to be back to his best and is one of the best in the Premier League when he is on form.
The Argentinian has stuck with Eriksen during his difficult spell and is now reaping the rewards, but does boast the likes of Georges Kevin N’Koudou, Heung-Min Son and Moussa Sissoko in his squad.
Spurs remain fifth-placed in the table following the Hull victory and face Burnley on Sunday in their next game.
Eriksen is likely to start that game and could turn out to be Spurs’ most important player as they try and get back into the title race this season.
