Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald has named Samuel Saiz as the best player at Elland Road in a question-and-answer session on the club’s official website.
The Spanish playmaker, 27, is currently serving a six-game ban for spitting at a Newport County player in the FA Cup that is due to be completed this weekend.
However, he has lit up Elland Road with his touch, vision and ability this season, scoring nine goals and five assists from 25 appearances in all competitions.
Wiedwald was asked to name the best player currently in the Leeds squad and chose the £3million signing from Huesca, who joined last summer at the same time as himself.
“We have a lot of good players but the most technical and the most smart player I believe it’s Samu,” Wiedwald told LUTV.
Saiz is yet to feature under new manager Paul Heckingbottom, but will be available after the weekend clash against Bristol City.
Wiedwald, who joined from Werder Bremen last summer, is set to remain in goal for Sunday’s 4.30pm kick-off after demonstrating growing authority since returning to the starting XI in November.
