The wide of Pablo Hernandez is planning to return to Spain this summer even though he has opened talks over a Leeds United contract extension, according to a report.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claim that the Spain international, 32, is moving towards an agreement over a new deal with the club he joined in the summer of 2016.
It is said that Hernandez is wanted by new manager Paul Heckingbottom and that the player’s stance is he wants to remain at Elland Road for a third season.
However, the Yorkshire Evening Post report that he is unlikely to be joined in west Yorkshire by his wife beyond the summer as she is currently pregnant and is set to return to their native Spain.

Leeds fans will be thrilled not only that all parties are working towards the common goal of a new Hernandez contract, but that the player’s commitment to the club is such he is willing to sacrifice being close to his family for his third season at the club. Already a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful, this will endear the attacking midfielder only further with those who regard him as one of the few players who has stood up to be consistently counted this season. Hernandez has scored seven goals and supplied nine assists from 36 matches in all competitions and has arguably been the second best player after fellow Spaniard Samuel Saiz.
In other Leeds United news, it can be revealed that NINE senior players at the club are in Radrizzani’s firing line and fighting for their jobs.
