'Wild' Said Benrahma slammed after West Ham showdown reveal - pundit

Said Benrahma has underperformed at West Ham and his bad attitude is holding him back, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Benrahma’s finishing is “wild” and he is an “overrated” player.

The Sun reported last week (8 June) that West Ham will listen to offers for the 26-year-old this summer and they want to recoup some of the £30 million they paid Brentford for him in the summer of 2020.

It is claimed David Moyes held showdown talks with Benrahma ahead of the defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on the final day of the Premier League season.

Moyes wants the Algeria international to impact games more, a view that Agbonlahor echoes.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “He has been one of the underperformers for me.

“When I saw him at Brentford I was like ‘Wow, this guy’s got everything’.

“Now I see him at West Ham and he’s got an attitude on him when he gets brought off he’s not happy but he doesn’t do enough to stay on the pitch.

“He’s got some nice touches and then wild finishes. He doesn’t really take players on.

“David Moyes has preferred [Manuel] Lanzini more and [Pablo] Fornals more. Just because you got bought for a decent fee, it doesn’t mean you’re a starter.

“Benrahma has really underperformed and is overrated in general.”

Benrahma scored 11 times and provided six assists in 48 games across all competitions for West Ham in the 2021-22 campaign.

He is under contract at the London Stadium until the summer of 2026.
