Wilfried Gnonto, Connor Roberts, Pascal Struijk: Leeds fans devastated by injury update

Leeds United fans are devastated that senior stars Pascal Struijk, Connor Roberts, Wilfried Gnonto and Ilia Gruev are all out injured.

Daniel Farke confirmed in his Wednesday press conference (27 March) that Gnonto, Roberts and Gruev had all picked up injuries while away on international duty and are in major doubt for the Whites’ next game against Watford on Friday night (29 March).

Most significantly of all was the news that captain Struijk will be out for the remainder of the season after undergoing groin surgery from an injury he picked up on Boxing Day against Preston North End.

Roberts limped off in Wales’ defeat against Poland on Tuesday (26 March), Gnonto has issues with his hamstring while Gruev has a problem with his ankle ligaments from Bulgaria’s clash on Monday (25 March).

Leeds United fans can’t believe “huge” injury blows to key stars

Leeds are entering a crucial period of the season with just eight games remaining and are still not guaranteed a place in the automatic promotion spots despite being top of the table.

With Leicester City, who have a game in hand, breathing down their necks and Ipswich Town just one point below them, a depleted squad is the last thing Farke needs.

Supporters are frustrated that the international break came just before the crucial season-defining run-in.

They have taken to social media to react to the “huge” blow, and many have lost confidence that they can clinch the title.
