Wilfried Nancy already has Celtic escape route as historic Euro club plot approach
Wilfried Nancy could be set to immediately step into another job if Celtic decide to sack him in the coming weeks.
The Frenchman took over from interim boss Martin O’Neill with the team on a run of five consecutive victories in all competitions, but his reign has begun with three very damaging defeats.
Celtic fans have already turned on Nancy, and his position became even more unstable after the Bhoys were on the receiving end of a shock defeat to St Mirren in Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final.
The 48-year-old’s days may already be numbered in the Premiership, but if he were to lose his job at Parkhead, then he may not be out of work for long.

Saint Etienne view Wilfried Nancy as a ‘main target’
The writing already appears to be on the wall for Nancy at Celtic, given how quickly he has lost the backing from the supporters.
It has been a disastrous start to his tenure, and much of the frustration towards the club hierarchy has been diverted in his direction since he arrived in the dugout.
The ex-Columbus Crew boss could be forgiven for already trying to find a way to escape Celtic Park, and he may now have the perfect opportunity presented to him on a plate.
French side Saint-Etienne remain “attentive” to Nancy’s situation at Celtic, and could even make an approach for him if he were to lose his job, according to Foot-Sur7.
The French outfit view the Celtic boss as their “main target” to fill the managerial role in the long term, and are understood to have already failed with two attempts to land him in the past.

Their boss Eirik Horneland is under pressure at the moment, with the team having won just four of their last 10 league games, despite currently sitting second in Ligue 2.
Nancy’s camp may try to engage in discussions with Saint-Etienne
Celtic fans have recently discovered Nancy’s account on X, and it feels almost inevitable that he will be hounded out of his new role at some point in the coming weeks.
His situation at Celtic is already looking grave, and with that in mind, it would be no surprise if his camp are already trying to engage in discussions with Saint-Etienne regarding a potential deal.
Nancy will not want to lose his job and face a prolonged period without work, so it may be prudent for him and his agents to begin sounding out Saint-Etienne about their interest, under the assumption that his days are numbered in his current position.
Celtic can provide a difficult environment for managers in situations like this, and with Nancy seeming to have wilted under the spotlight, he may already be desperate to get away.
