‘Wilfried Nancy is getting sacked tonight’ – Celtic fans react to ‘disgusting’ twist
Celtic were humiliated against Rangers 3-1 on Saturday in a shameful display, with Wilfried Nancy now walking on a tight rope.
The Frenchman has overseen an absolutely awful start at Celtic Park, losing six of his first eight matches.
While the manager was letdown by his players in Celtic’s defeat to Rangers, he simply did not have any answers for the Gers’ second-half comeback as they eventually cruised to victory.
With Nancy already under pressure at Celtic before the game, fans are now demanding that he be removed from his post.

Celtic fans demand that Wilfried Nancy is sacked tonight
Under Nancy, there have been few, if any positive signs during his reign.
Given that Martin O’Neill left Celtic Park with the team in an excellent position to complete another treble, all this work has now been undone.
Somehow, despite Rangers’ dire start under Russell Martin, the Gers are level on points with the Hoops, with Nancy’s side only above their Old Firm rivals on goal difference.
Now, supporters believe a change is needed before their season utterly collapses.
I’m sorry, but he’s got to go. Today. Get him gone.

Totally unacceptable. Should have been out of sight 1st half. Manager has to go
— Judith Strachan (@jstrachan10) January 3, 2026
The annoying part is that was totally predictable, even after being one up at HT.

I always give the benefit of the doubt. But now, there’s no doubt. Nancy has to go. Tonight preferably.
He’s straight down the tunnel and hopefully right out the door.

It did look like Nancy would be safe from the sack at half-time in what was an excellent display. However, there was a twist in the tale, as Celtic were not able to produce the same levels after the break, in what supporters labelled “disgusting”.
Sack Nancy, but don’t forget tisdale, disgusting performance in that 2nd half as it was to be expected. Don’t let the board out of Celtic park

Every team We’ve played under Nancy has figured us out at half time an made the changes to dominate against us in the 2nd half

Like two completely different teams in each half. Excellent in the first, completely honking in the second. Really bizarre to watch. Whatever Nancy is trying to accomplish here it’s simply not working

What did Nancy say after Celtic’s defeat to Rangers?
Nancy no doubt knows that the pressure is on him at Celtic.
The results have not been good enough, and it is hard to see if he can turn the situation around.
Celtic are currently in freefall, and with fans already against the manager, it appears that there may only be one solution.
However, Nancy has remained certain that he can turn things around at the Hoops as he rues the hosts’ missed chances in the match.
He told BBC Radio Scotland on 3 January: “Disappointing. Disappointing because I think that we deserve more today.
“But again, I think we deserved more goals. First half was outstanding, the intensity, the pressure, the commitment to compete, to win every ball and so on.
“But only 1-0, and after that, in the second half, we came back. We were in control, and we considered three goals on the throwing. So that’s why difficult to accept.
“Well, this is not about myself. This is about it being disappointing for the fans, obviously, because I know the meaning of this game, but the reality is I saw so they push us in a good way.

“You know, first half, we had many chances, and the way, also that we fought so the fans saw that they were behind us. And after that, the second half, yes, when we conceded goals the first one, we wanted to push again, to push again, and after that, the three goals that we considered.
“So I can understand the disappointment, but also that I can tell them that they also saw what we are able to do. But now, in terms of results, this is totally normal, that can be disappointed.
“We have to stay together, and we are really close, so many things that we can turn around. It would have been if it were not the case, I would not talk like this, but again, we have many, many things that we are really close.
“But again, this is not enough. We only few details and but I really believe that we’re going to be able to turn things around.”
