Jack Butland took to social media to celebrate Rangers’ incredible Old Firm victory against Celtic and got reactions from a pair of MLS stars.
Rangers fans have been incredibly critical of Butland this season, making far too many mistakes throughout the campaign and looking the shell of his former self from last season.
The shot-stopper has experienced a resurgence in recent matches, however, becoming the hero in the Gers’ penalty shootout against Fenerbahce to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
And while he did concede twice against the Hoops at Celtic Park on 16 March, he made some key saves and even grabbed an assist as Nico Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Hamza Igamane inspired a shock win in the Old Firm derby.

Taking to Instagram [17 March], Butland simply captioned a picture of himself with a fist and Union Jack emojis, gathering likes from teammates Ianis Hagi, Raskin, Danilo and Diomande.
The post also gained traction across the world, with DC United star, Christian Benteke, and Charlotte FC man Wilfried Zaha, both of whom played alongside the goalkeeper at Crystal Palace.

Barry Ferguson’s audition for becoming Rangers’ permanent manager has gotten off to an incredible start, advancing to the next round of the Europa League and defeating Celtic in their own backyard.
The Light Blues will now face La Liga giants Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals, which a clash against Lyon or Man United waiting in the next round if they can bypass the Spaniards.

The interim’s manager has been far from smooth sailing though, having to come from two goals behind to beat Kilmarnock before losing 2-1 to Motherwell during his first two games in charge.
Some might also believe that the Gers were lucky to have beaten Jose Mourinho‘s Fenerbahce, having been absolutely dominated in the return leg at Ibrox, but just about being able to take the game to penalties.
Ferguson has proven that his side have what it takes to reach the Europa League final but accomplishing this is a completely different challenge.
