Will Ferrell: Kieran Maguire drops Leeds United verdict after deal agreed
Leeds United can use their new ‘Hollywood’ investor Will Ferrell to grow the profile of their club and become more popular in the United States.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the investment deal between Leeds and Will Ferrell will likely be similar to the agreement between Birmingham City and Tom Brady.
It was announced last Tuesday (7 May) that Ferrell is the latest US celebrity to buy into football with the actor and comedian becoming a minority investor at Leeds.
The Yorkshire club already have a diverse list of US sports star investors including Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas.
Leeds are not the only club to have attracted US investors, with former NFL stars Tom Brady and JJ Watt buying stakes in Birmingham City and Burnley respectively.
Leeds United strike ‘Hollywood’ investment deal
Maguire explained that the financial commitment from Ferrell’s investment is likely small, but it can help to grow the club’s profile and fanbase.
“Will Ferrell buying into Leeds United, I suspect is similar to the relationship between Birmingham City and Tom Brady,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

“I don’t think there will be much of a financial investment from the Hollywood star but it will help to raise the profile of the club.
“On the back of the Welcome to Wrexham Series, I would imagine Farrell’s unique personality and fame can be utilised by the club and Farrell himself to benefit both parties.“
