William Saliba and Reece James respond to Wesley Fofana’s update away from Chelsea

Wesley Fofana’s update off the pitch and away from Chelsea earned plenty of reactions from current and former teammates.

Chelsea closed out the 2024/25 season in success by lifting the Conference League trophy and sealing a return to Champions League football.

Despite Enzo Maresca enduring criticism throughout the campaign, he managed to steer the Blues to a successful finish and silencing many of the doubters by the end of the season.

Preparations are now underway for the Club World Cup, which kicks off on 15 June, with Chelsea already back in training.

One player who won’t be involved, however, is Wesley Fofana as the French defender continues his recovery from injury and has been left out of the squad as a result.

His future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain. Football Insider recently reported that Chelsea are open to offers for Fofana after a season marred by fitness setbacks and inconsistency.

Still, the centre-back remains active off the pitch and shared an update which quickly drew attention from teammates past and present.

Wesley Fofana shares holiday update amid Chelsea exit rumours

With the French defender not included in Club World Cup squad, he appeared to be enjoying some time off the pitch. He posted a holiday update on Instagram with the caption: “See it, You get that?”

The update sparked plenty of reactions, with the likes of Reece James, Romeo Lavia, and former teammate at Saint-Etienne William Saliba all liking the post.

Despite the warm responses from his peers, Fofana’s future at Stamford Bridge is up in the air. Football Insider revealed that Chelsea are actively looking to sign a new centre-back in the summer window, adding more competition.

There’s believed to be interest from clubs in the Middle East, and a substantial offer could persuade Chelsea to cash in on the 24-year-old. Any fee received is expected to be reinvested into strengthening Maresca’s squad.

Having signed for £75 million, his Chelsea career has been riddled with injuries and inconsistency. He featured just 14 times in all competitions last season and missed 35 matches with many Chelsea supporters now believe it’s time for the club to cash in on Fofana.

Chelsea reconsider Noni Madueke stance amid transfer interest

While the Blues appear open to offloading Fofana, the situation surrounding Noni Madueke has taken a different turn.

Football Insider revealed Chelsea are now leaning towards keeping Madueke, who is seen as a player still capable of contributing under Maresca.

Madueke had been linked with a summer move, with strong interest from both Tottenham and Aston Villa. Although an exit once looked likely, Chelsea’s position may now have shifted, indicating the England international could still have a role in the squad going forward.
