William Saliba reacts to Jean-Clair Todibo’s West Ham message

Jean-Clair Todibo expressed his gratitude to West Ham fans after the side secured back-to-back victories in the Premier League after beating Leicester City.

West Ham triumphed comfortably at the London Stadium on 27 February in a 2-0 win over Leicester, as they have now won two back-to-back fixtures.

Tomas Soucek gave the Hammers the lead in the 21st minute, pouncing on the rebound after Mohamed Kudus’ shot was saved.

Jarrod Bowen thought he had doubled the advantage when his shot deflected off Jannik Vestergaard for an own goal, much to his frustration. Bowen later poked fun at the Premier League with a post on social media.

Todibo played a key role in the defence, starting alongside Max Kilman and Aaron Cresswell in a newly-formed back three that has now kept two consecutive clean sheets.

Juventus had shown interest in Todibo during the January transfer window, but no move materialised, and the Frenchman has since enjoyed a solid run of form. After the win, Todibo posted a message of celebration, acknowledging the fans and the team’s hard-earned victory.

William Saliba and Aaron Wan-Bissaka respond to Todibo’s message to West Ham fans

Todibo expressed his pride in West Ham’s 2-0 win over Leicester, sharing his thoughts with fans on Instagram. His post read: “Great win! The team gave it all, and we got the result. Proud of everyone. On to the next!”

Several notable players, including Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier, Arsenal’s William Saliba, and teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka, reacted to the message by liking the post.

Although joining last summer, his time at the club hasn’t been entirely smooth. Todibo was involved in a heated exchange with Julen Lopetegui prior to his sacking, but he appears to have regained his form under Graham Potter.

Todibo was sidelined for much of January due to injury and was left out of the squad for the 1-1 draw with Brentford on 15 February.

This forced Potter to experiment with different centre-back pairings during his time. However, since Todibo’s return, a back three consisting of the Frenchman, Cresswell, and Kilman has delivered impressive results, with two clean sheets in as many games after beating Arsenal in their previous encounter.

While West Ham remain in 15th place in the Premier League, their recent form has created a 16-point gap from the relegation zone, alleviating some of the early-season relegation fears.
