‘William Saliba will leave Arsenal this summer’ – Fans rage at Real Madrid news

Arsenal fans have reacted on social media to reports linking William Saliba with a move to Real Madrid.

French journalist Fabrice Hawkins has reported fpr RMC Sport that Arsenal centre-back Saliba is a “priority” target for Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Football Insider previously revealed in November that Arsenal have no intention of entertaining offers for Saliba, despite ongoing interest from Los Blancos.

The French defender has long been on their radar, as Real Madrid scouts have watched Saliba earlier this season. Now, it appears the Spanish giants are considering him as a key defensive reinforcement for the summer.

William Saliba may have a decision to make over Arsenal future

The 23-year-old has played a vital role in Mikel Arteta’s title-challenging side over the past two seasons, but speculation over a move to Madrid could turn his head.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side are prioritising their defensive problems this season as Real Madrid are also looking to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Injuries to Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, and Antonio Rudiger have forced Madrid to reassess their defensive options, and Saliba has emerged as a top target from the Premier League.

The centre-back has featured 33 times for the Gunners this season across all competitions, scoring twice.

He has formed a rock-solid partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes in a defence that conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League last season.

Arsenal fans frustrated with Mikel Arteta as Saliba interest grows

Although his rise to prominence seems recent, he has been with Arsenal since 2019, signing from Saint-Etienne under Unai Emery. After three loan spells, he returned to North London and has been a key figure in the team ever since making his Premier League debut.

However, with Arsenal’s recent cup exits to Newcastle and Manchester United, along with their six-point gap behind Liverpool in the title race, fans are growing frustrated at the prospect of losing one of their star players.

One supporter reacted to the rumours, saying, “If Madrid call for Saliba, he’s gone” while criticising the club’s lack of ambition in transfer windows. Another added, “If we get no silverware this year, it’s definitely happening.”
