Wilson Isidor reacts to message from Sunderland star Chris Rigg amid exit rumours

Wilson Isidor reacted to a message from Sunderland teammate Chris Rigg as exit rumours swirl around the talented young midfielder.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a fine season for the Black Cats last term, making 42 appearances for Regis Le Bris’ side.

Rigg started in the middle of the park as Sunderland claimed victory over Sheffield United in the playoff final, helping his side reclaim their place in the Premier League after an eight-year absence.

And since then, the North Eastern side have been exceptionally busy in the transfer window as they look to buck the trend in recent years of promoted sides immediately being relegated.

The financial gap between England’s first and second tier continues to widen, but that has not stopped the Black Cats from splashing out over £100million this summer [transfermarkt].

Whilst Jobe Bellingham’s move to Borussia Dortmund was a blow, Sunderland have responded by signing Habib Diarra from Strasbourg, Simon Adingra from Brighton, and Noah Sadiki from Union Saint-Gilloise.

Chris Rigg shares message to Sunderland fans

Following a much-needed summer break ahead of their return to the Premier League, Rigg took to Instagram to share several photos of himself in training, captioned: “Working”.

The post was liked by teammate Isidor, with the French striker showing support for the young English midfielder.

Everton lead race for Chris Rigg

Football Insider Verdict

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Mick Brown revealed that Everton are currently leading Man United for Rigg’s signature.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best young English talents and despite still being a teenager, he has already made 72 appearances for his boyhood side.

However, Rigg has not publicly shown much interest in leaving Sunderland just yet, which is almost certainly for the best.

There have been plenty of young attacking midfielders who have thrived in the Championship in recent years, only to struggle to break into bigger sides after making a summer move.

Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliott‘s development appears to have been hindered after joining Liverpool from Fulham, and Rigg would be well advised to take advantage of his standing within Sunderland to continue making first-team appearances.
