Winner named in race for 24-year-old wanted by West Ham - report
By Harvey Byrne
Championship side Norwich have been named as the winner in the race to sign Lincoln defender Sean Raggett, according to a report.
News outlet HITC have claimed on their website that each of West Ham, Sunderland and Peterborough have “been credited with an interest” in the 24-year-old centre-back.
However, it is the Canaries who are said to have won his signature with it said in the report that the Championship club will loan him back to League Two outfit Lincoln for the season.
Raggett is said to have caught the eye of many clubs as he starred in Lincoln’s title-winning side in the National League last season.
He also played a key part in Lincoln’s famous cup run which saw them reach the quarter-final stage before suffering defeat against Arsenal.

However, with just a year left on his contract it is reported that Lincoln were resigned to losing him and it now seems that Norwich will be his next destination.
Football Insider verdict:
West Ham can’t be too disappointed if they have missed out on Raggett. The defender is clearly a good talent in the English lower leagues. However, at 24 he should certainly be playing at a higher level. He will also be going into his 25th year with Lincoln in League Two if he does re-sign for them on loan and by that time most players are nearing their peaks. The Hammers back line were shown up in the opening day defeat against a firing Manchester United team, but Raggett certainly is not the answer.
