Wissa reacts to Norgaard announcement at Brentford after ‘red card offence’

Yoanne Wissa reacted to a brand-new social media announcement from Brentford concerning star midfielder Christian Norgaard.

Thomas Frank has worked wonders during his time at the Gtech Community Stadium, with the Bees currently fighting for a top-half finish in the Premier League against the likes of Brighton and Fulham.

They certainly took an important step towards that aim with a 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Saturday, 12 April, but it could have ended up very differently for one player.

Keith Hackett told Football Insider that Brentford captain Norgaard should have been sent off for a scissors-challenge on Gabriel Martinelli, a foul which saw him pick up a yellow card from Simon Hooper.

Instead, the midfielder remained on the pitch until added time, helping to claim an important point against the Gunners before the final six matches of the league season.

Christian Norgaard reaches Premier League milestone

Taking to Instagram (16 April), the club’s official account wrote: “Christian Norgaard, Nathan Collins, Igor Thiago and Hakon Valdimarsson were presented with mementoes for their Premier League debuts and 100th appearances.

Showing support to his teammates, Yoanne Wissa liked the post as Norgaard reached a milestone at Brentford.

Thomas Frank building something incredible at the Gtech Community Stadium

Football Insider verdict

The manager has become a much-loved figure at the Gtech Community Stadium, and given the Bees’ advancements under his leadership, it is absolutely no surprise.

Those achievements have seen Frank linked with replacing Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham boss, with Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola also tipped for the role.

Bryan Mbeumo, who could leave Brentford this summer, Wissa and Kevin Schade have created an incredible attack, with Mikkel Damsgaard pulling all the strings from attacking midfield.

If the hierarchy wants the Bees to improve further next season, Frank needs backing in the transfer market this summer and needs to keep most of the high-profile stars despite some of the exit links.

That could be tricky. But, with six matches of the league season remaining, the manager will only be focusing on the upcoming games rather than the summer transfer window.
