Wolves ‘confident’ of appointing Vitor Pereira after paying release clause

Wolves are confident of sealing the appointment of Al Shabab boss Vitor Pereira as their new manager, sources have told Football Insider.

The 56-year-old is in line to replace Gary O’Neil at Molineux after his sacking on Sunday (15 December).

Pereira has been identified as the top choice for Wolves, who sit 19th in the Premier League table with nine points.

He is currently employed in Saudi Arabia after joining Al Shabab in February but the Midlands club are ready to pay his release clause – which has been widely reported to be worth around £800,000.

Sources say Pereira is keen on the move and there is a willingness from all parties to find an agreement.

It is believed the ex-Everton manager target could be appointed quickly and may be in place for the trip to Leicester City on Sunday (22 December).

Pereira has a wealth of management experience having taken charge of sides in Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Germany, China and Brazil.

The Midlands club handed O’Neil a new contract in the summer but parted ways with the English boss after winning just two of 16 top-flight games in the 2024-25 campaign.

Pereira could face Leicester, Man United and Tottenham within a week if his appointment is finalised before the weekend.
