Wolves could reappoint manager ‘still held in high regard’ after Vitor Pereira sacking

The search to bring in Vitor Pereira’s replacement at Wolves has already begun, with a shock name in the frame.

Vitor Pereira was sacked by Wolves following a 3-0 defeat at Fulham in the Premier League which leaves the club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Wolves have just two points from 10 matches, with Pereira clashing with supporters amid rising tensions at Molineux.

Pereira had saved Wolves form relegation last season, but the Portuguese boss has not been given the opportunity this time around.

Gary O’Neil could make Wolves return

Brendan Rodgers could become the next Wolves manager following his departure from Celtic and would bring extensive Premier League experience.

However, talkSPORT, [2 November], understand that former boss Gary O’Neil could return less than 12 months after being sacked and replaced by Pereira.

O’Neil “is still held in high regard by owners Fosun,” and in his first season in charge of the club the former Bournemouth boss did lead Wolves to a 14th placed finish.

International break crucial for next Wolves boss

Wolves are already eight points off safety and 17th placed Burnley in the table, and a trip to Chelsea next looks unlikely to yield points.

The international break after that fixture will be key for the new boss to work with his players before their return to action against Crystal Palace.

Either way it would take a monumental run of results for Wolves to drag themselves out of the mire, with a return to the Championship already on the cards.
