Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves will miss his team’s Championship clash against Leeds United at Elland Road on Wednesday night – and fans have taken to Twitter to express their concern at the absence of one of their star men.
The Portugal international, 20, will be absent due to a suspension carried over from the weekend.
Neves had been due to serve the second match of a two-game ban against Reading last Saturday after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season in the recent 2-2 draw against Norwich City.
But the postponement, due to the extreme weather conditions in over the weekend, means Neves’ ban carries over to the clash of the titans on Wednesday.
It is a boost for Leeds, who will face a Wolves team minus one of their star players this season.
However, Wolves supporters are concerned at being unable to call upon one of their most important players for the Elland Road showdown.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Even the snow doesn’t want Ruben Neves to come back from his suspension, we now go to leeds without Neves. #wwfc

Looking forward to Leeds on Wednesday. And you really shouldn’t look to far ahead. Nuno’s mantra 1 game at a time. But it’s difficult not to look at Saturday’s match & seeing Neves back on the field orchestrating proceedings #wwfc

Nuno’s right not to look at the table and other teams fixtures. I have and wished I hadn’t! Also, have we got to be “fitted in” by Sky to rearrange Reading? Others going for the 13th. Everything stacking up against us now. Neves missing at Leeds now as well. #wwfc

Positives about today’s posponement, a leggy team against Fulham have had extra rest. Yes, neves now misses Leeds but he will have had a ‘winter break’ (and will now play v reading!). Reading at home, not a bad game to have in hand….if needed. Keep the faith. #wwfc

Neves has made a huge impact for Wolves since joining from Porto last summer.
The four-times Portugal international has started 32 of Wolves’ 34 league games – the only ones he has missed have been due to suspension – and his central midfield displays have been integral to their dominance of the Championship.
In other Leeds United news, here are FIVE reasons why Samuel Saiz must be sold this summer – and why it makes perfect sense.
