Wolves in last-gasp talks to swoop for PL colossus, Mourinho a big fan - reliable journalist

By Danny Wright

Wolves are in talks with Manchester United over a last-gasp swoop for midfielder Scott McTominay, according to a reliable journalist.

Express and Star reporter Tim Spiers claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday night that Wolves are interesting in sealing a loan deal for McTominay, 20, with less than 24 hours left to go until the transfer window slams shut.

It is understood that United boss Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the central midfielder, who played two times in the Premier League last season towards the end of the campaign.

The Old Trafford academy product is a colossus of a player, standing at 6ft 4in tall and would no doubt add some much needed physical presence to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.

McTominay isn’t the only Premier League midfielder that Wolves are understood to be taking a look at signing in the eleventh hour of the transfer window as the Daily Mail has recently claimed that they are in talks with Newcastle over a move for Jack Colback.

Wolves look set to have an exciting deadline day. Not only does Nuno need to add a striker to his squad but it now seems that he is gearing up a move for a midfielder. While Colback has the experience, McTominay is a much more exciting prospect for the Molineux faithful. The Manchester United youngster has pedigree from being trained at one of the biggest clubs in the world so settling into life at Wolves should be no problem for him. His aerial and physical presence could also be a big reason why Nuno chooses to go for him over Colback, as well as perhaps being cheaper than the Newcastle midfielder.

In other Wolves news, the club has made a last-ditch attempt to solve their striker problem by making contact over this proven goal scorer.
