Wolves player ratings v QPR: One attacker stars as another flops

By Will Butcher

Football Insider rates the Wolves players after they secured a 2-1 win over QPR away at Loftus Road on Thursday night, in the Championship.

Carl Ikeme 7 – Had little to do all night, after QPR’s James Perch was given his marching orders. Only his fourth clean sheet of the season. Injury doubt after being withdrawn.

Dom Iorfa 8 – Impressive in a stuttering side. Looked both defensively astute and a threat on the right flank, as he got forward to join the attack. Superb assist for Edwards’ goal.

Danny Batth 6 – Inch-perfect long ball to Costa for the second goal, but the captain’s poor clearance allowed Joel Lynch to grab a late consolation.

Richard Stearman 7 – Defended well in the first half as QPR threatened, but was comfortable after the red card.

Matt Doherty 8 – Defence-splitting pass for the goal, as he found the on-rushing Iorfa who pulled back to Edwards. Eye-catching display for Wolves.

Romain Saiss 7 – Did his job efficiently at the base of Wolves’ midfield, as he looked to keep possession while keeping the side solid.

David Edwards 8 – Superb finish as he dealt with a difficult ball on a greasy surface to find the roof of the net to secure all three points. Work ethic unquestionable once again.

Connor Coady 7 – Played well in midfield, without doing anything sensational.

Ivan Cavaleiro 5 – Was a flop in spite of his pricey transfer fee in the summer. Lacking an end product, and hooked with 20 minutes remaining.

Helder Costa 9 – Looked a star. His goal proved that, as he plucked a driven pass out of the air with ease before turning multiple members of the QPR defence inside out before finishing into the bottom corner. Special player.

Nouha Dicko 7 – Ran the channels well and worked hard up front for Wolves.
