Wolves reach agreement to sell Emmanuel Agbadou, multi-million fee and buying club revealed
Wolves are set to sell Emmanuel Agbadou just over a year after signing the centre-back, despite the winter deadline day passing in England.
With Wolves’ relegation to the Championship pretty much certain, Rob Edwards has been preparing his Old Gold squad for second-tier football.
This saw Jorgen Strand Larsen depart Molineux for Selhurst Park on deadline day, while Angel Gomes and Adam Armstrong made the switch to Wolverhampton.
Yet, while the transfer window has since closed in England, multiple players continued to be linked away.
Recent reports have suggested that Jhon Arias could be off to Palmeiras, and now Agbadou could soon be following the attacker out of the door.
Wolves accept £17.5m bid from Besiktas for Emmanuel Agbadou
Agbadou has long been linked away from Wolves in recent weeks.
Despite the centre-back being one of the Old Gold side’s best players in the latter half of the 2024-25 campaign, his form has fallen off a cliff this season.
The 28-year-old was only recalled to the starting XI for the first time since mid-December last week after struggling to get back into the lineup after AFCON.
As a result, Edwards appears more than happy to let the defender go, despite the inability to bring in a replacement.
According to journalist Liam Keen via X on 5 February, Wolves have agreed a fee with Besiktas, with the total package being worth around £17.5million.

€18m + €2m in add-ons.
The add-ons will be achieved by the end of the season, making it €20m total.
Converted to £ it is roughly £17.5m – which is around £1m profit for Wolves. #wwfc
Despite Agbadou’s poor form this season, the Old Gold side are still set to make around £1m profit on the Ivory Coast international.
Fosun once again pull off a masterstroke
While Fosun’s reign at Molineux has been increasingly controversial, they deserve credit for squeezing every penny out of these clubs that want their out-of-form players.
Agbadou proved in recent weeks that he was no longer Premier League quality and was unlikely to get much game time between now and the end of the season, let alone in the Championship.
Therefore, Wolves selling the defender for a small profit is excellent business.
Now, the task for Edwards and Nathan Shi is to ensure that the money is reinvested wisely into the squad to help the club bounce back into the Premier League next season.
