Wolves set for new fire sale to avoid points deduction – sources
Wolves are set for another fire sale this summer to avoid a devastating points deduction, sources have told Football Insider.
The Molineux club sold multiple star players last summer (2023) and still only narrowly avoided punishment under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
But their cash crisis is not yet over and the Midlands club could be forced to sell more top assets in the off-season – to avoid financial issues and a potential points deduction – and they will not have big money to spend in the market.
Pedro Neto, Matheus Cunha, Max Kilman, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Hwang Hee-chan are among the highly-coveted assets at Molineux following their strong 2023-24 campaign.
Gary O’Neil has recently pledged his future to Wolves despite links with vacancies at Liverpool and Man United.
Neto and Cunha could go with Wolves in new fire sale danger
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (30 April) that club chiefs are planning urgent contract talks with O’Neil – whose current deal is up in June 2026.
The former West Ham midfielder is believed to be happy at Molineux, but with other clubs closely monitoring his work, the lack of funds at Wolves could lead to increased tensions.
O’Neil only joined the club after the shock departure of Julen Lopetegui due to last summer’s fire sale.

Wolves sit 11th in the Premier League after winning 13 of their 35 top-flight games this term.
The Midlands club face Man City, Crystal Palace and Liverpool in their final three games of the 2023-24 campaign.
