Wolves set sights on signing two proven Premier League free agents – sources
Wolves are eyeing moves for free agents James Tompkins and Paul Dummett, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed Wolves may be forced to turn to Tompkins, 35, and Dummett, 33 after Yerson Mosquera was ruled out for the rest of the season.
Mosquera, 23, is set to undergo an operation after twisting his knee in a clash with Morgan Rogers in their 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday (September 21).
The club will be limited to home-grown free agents as their current 24-man squad only has seven homegrown players.
If they want to strengthen, having a 25-man squad will mean they will have to have eight homegrown players as per the quota set by the Premier League.
Wolves look to James Topmkins and Paul Dummett after defensive crisis
The club’s failure to sign a direct replacement for Max Kilman and Mosquera’s injury have left them seriously lacking at the heart of defense.
Tompkins and Dummett would offer Gary O’Neil a wealth of experience, with a combined 644 senior club appearances under their belts.

Wolves currently sit dead last in the Premier League, equal on points and goal difference with Everton, after losing four and drawing one in their opening five games.
