‘Wolves want to sign Sunderland’s Trai Hume as Nelson Semedo to leave’
Wolves are after the signing of Sunderland full-back Trai Hume, with Nelson Semedo set to depart this summer.
The 23-year-old has massively impressed during his time at the Stadium of Light, racking up 132 appearances for the Black Cats since arriving from Northern Ireland side Linfield in January 2022.
Boasting three goals and six assists in 48 appearances, the full-back helped Regis Le Bris‘ side win promotion back to the Premier League for the first time since the 2016/17 season.
While Football Insider understands that both Chris Rigg and Dan Neil could stay at Sunderland this season, Le Bris could be handed a very big blow amid the departure of a huge defensive talent.
Vitor Pereira, who has impressed immensely since taking charge of Wolves, could lose Semedo on a free transfer to Turkish giants Galatasaray, Football Insider understands, so a possible move for Hume has emerged.

Trai Hume to replace the departing Nelson Semedo
According to Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth (2 June), Wolves are joined by Everton, and a number of La Liga clubs, as interested in signing Sunderland’s Hume this summer.
The Northern Ireland international, who made 48 appearances as the Black Cats won promotion to the Premier League, is under contract until 2027, though there is an option to extend.
Vitor Pereira preparing new transfer as multiple exits loom for Wolves
Football Insider verdict
Football Insider understands that Pereira wishes to be backed by Wolves’ boardroom during the summer transfer window, with his future also a major talking point in these showdown talks.
Semedo’s exit will be a huge blow, but absolutely nothing compared to Matheus Cunha’s big-money move to Man United, which has already been announced at Old Trafford.
Rayan Ait Nouri‘s future is also up in the air amid interest from Man City, so Pereira could be missing several high-profile players once the 2025/26 campaign kicks off after the summer.

With these losses possibly all coming within the first few days of the transfer window opening, however, there is plenty of time for Wolves to rebuild, especially if funds arrive from the Cunha deal.
Wolves went on an incredible run under the new Portuguese manager, winning six games in a row to pull away from the ongoing relegation battle, but a similar problem could occur next season without proper reinforcements.
The board must give the manager exactly what he needs to keep the team in the Premier League next season, and that starts with the permanent signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen.
