Club chief delivers emphatic response about Liverpool January transfer

RB Leipzig sporting director Ralf Rangnik has revealed that Naby Keita will not be moving to Liverpool in January.

In an interview with Leipziger Volkszeitung, the club official revealed that Liverpool would be unable to the have player earlier than the summer.

Liverpool have an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign the player for at least £48million at the end in season already in place.

On the possibility of the player being allowed to go earlier than original planned, the sporting director was adamant about Liverpool’s chances.

He said: “It would make no sense to let Naby go to Liverpool earlier.”

The 22-year-old has played 13 times this season across all competitions for RB Lepizig, scoring two goals and registering one assist.

The midfielder has gained some negative attention this season after receiving three red cards across a period of 39 days.

Keita was sent off on two occasion for his country, Guinea, and then got red card for RB Leipzig in a game against Bayern Munich.

The red card for his club did cause him to miss three league games, which are the only three league games he has missed this season.

He did also miss the Champions League game against Monaco for RB Leipzig, but that was due to a muscular injury.
