Darren Bent says that there could be “big things” on the horizon for Leeds United as he reacts to talk of a potential takeover deal at Elland Road.

The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Whites will have prospective suitors lining up next year if they can seal a place in the Premier League this season.

As revealed by Football Insider, Andrea Radrizzani believes that the club will be worth £300million if they secure promotion and remain in the top flight in 2021, although he wants to retain control of the club despite talks with the Qatar Sports Investment group over potential investment.

Having seen the Championship side hand out contracts to a number of first-team stars this season, Bent says he is impressed with the way Radrizzani is running the club but says exciting times might be on the horizon.

Bent told Football Insider: “Leeds are going about really, really well with what they’re doing, giving out new contracts to certain players.

“I heard the rumours that they were going to get taken over by somebody. If they were able to get that as well, wow, big things for Leeds because Leeds are a big, big club.

“If they could somehow get promoted and then they get taken over, Leeds is a great city as well so there’s going to be no shortage of takers down there.”

Leeds currently sit second in the Championship after beating Luton Town 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, two points behind table-toppers West Brom.

They have another away trip on Tuesday evening, visiting Reading at the Madjeski Stadium, before playing host to Middlesbrough on Saturday.

In other Leeds United news, Football Insider can reveal a major development over the transfer future of Eddie Nketiah.
