‘Wow’ – Liverpool fans have changed their minds about Wataru Endo after display in 2-0 win over Burnley

Many Liverpool fans are saying they have been won over by Wataru Endo following his latest barnstorming display in the 2-0 Boxing Day triumph over Burnley.

Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota secured a convincing win for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they peppered the opposition goal at Turf Moor and were unfortunate not to rack up a far bigger scoreline.

Liverpool have only been beaten once so far this season and went two points clear of Arsenal at the Premier League summit, although Mikel Arteta’s side can regain top spot with success over West Ham on Thursday.

There have been signs in recent weeks that Klopp’s new-look midfield is starting to look the part and that was the case once again at Turf Moor even though the manager made four changes in total to the side that drew against Arsenal on Saturday.

Two of those were in midfield, with Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch joining Endo in the engine room, and the three combined to provide a solid platform in front of the defence as well as the launchpad for an unrelenting wave of attacks.

Many Liverpool followers were thrilled by the performance of their defensive midfielder, 30, on what was his seventh Premier League start of the season and 23th appearance in all competitions for the Reds.

Endo had been the subject of criticism from a section of fans just weeks ago for what was claimed to be a lack of quality in the number six role.

But he has steadily won over those unsure supporters and they have now changed their minds.
