Wrexham backed to attempt Jamie Vardy hijack amid Rangers developments
Wrexham have been tipped to make a transfer swoop for Jamie Vardy amid rival interest from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers.
The Red Dragons have already begun strengthening their ranks after winning promotion from League One to the Championship, acquiring the likes of former Leicester City goalkeeper Danny Ward.
Meanwhile, new Gers boss Russell Martin has signed ex-Luton Town star Thelo Aasgaard as the Ibrox club strive to bridge the gap to reigning Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
Former Leicester hotshot Vardy would be a strong addition for both Wrexham and Rangers, who each boast lofty ambitions.

Vardy tipped to have a place in the Wrexham story amid Rangers advances
Wrexham have captured the imaginations of several football fans by winning three successive promotions from the National League to the Championship.
The Red Dragons’ unrelenting upward trajectory in recent seasons could make the Welsh outfit an attractive destination for Vardy.
Reporting about the striker’s future via BBC Sport‘s live transfer Q&A blog [7 July, 3.37pm], Phil McNulty wrote: ” I have no doubt the more ambitious Championship club will be eyeing those sorts of players, but offering the sort of package to attract them may prove difficult.
“You can see those newly-promoted clubs, such as Birmingham City and Wrexham, having a look.
“I could see Jamie Vardy in that Wrexham story, but I suspect he will have very good offers from elsewhere.
“Whether they make a move firmly remains to be seen, but whether they can pull it off, I would still question, even with big ambitions.”
Meanwhile, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Rangers have opened preliminary talks to sign Vardy.

Phil Parkinson’s recruitment model shows no sign of changing
Football Insider verdict
While Wrexham have been linked with a move for Vardy, Phil Parkinson’s men have proven that they are not afraid to sign aging players to help them in the immediate future, as opposed to investing in youngsters who boast potential.

The Red Dragons’ League One promotion-winning success last term was largely built on the efforts of veteran strikers Steven Fletcher and Jay Rodriguez, as well as 36-year-old utility man James McClean.
Parkinson opted against renewing Fletcher’s terms at the Racecourse Ground, but fellow 38-year-old Vardy could soon walk through the door if he does not join Rangers instead.
Meanwhile, Wrexham have also been linked with Danny Ings, whose best Premier League days are behind him, but he could still prove to be a major threat in the Championship.
The Welsh side’s recruitment model has heavily hinged on acquiring experience, as opposed to youth, and that is showing no signs of changing following their promotion to the second tier.
