Wrexham’s financial power laid bare as official paperwork confirms £48m payment
Wrexham’s owners are continuing to back the club heavily after a significant financial update has emerged.
Wrexham are majority owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac (formerly McElhenney), who have helped the club achieve three successive promotions from the National League to the second tier.
Reynolds and Mac purchased the Red Dragons in February 2021, with the deal seeing the duo invest £2million at the Stok Cae Ras, also known as the Racecourse Ground.
It was later announced in October 2024 the Allyn family, which has a net worth of more than £1.5billion, had bought a minority stake in the club.
In a recent ownership update, it was confirmed last month Apollo Sports Capital has purchased a minority stake in Wrexham.

Wrexham already had access to more cash than most of their EFL rivals, but the Apollo deal has completely changed the game.
The New York-headquartered firm, which has more than £675bn worth of assets under management, became the majority owners of La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in November.
Apollo’s investment in Wrexham arrived just weeks before the January transfer window opened, providing the club with extra firepower this month.
A Companies House submission has now confirmed Wrexham’s owners have bankrolled a £47.8m injection for one new allotted share at the Racecourse.
Finance expert Kieran Maguire reported on Monday (26 January) he believes the investment is intended to provide working capital for infrastructure costs and player recruitment.
Alongside their efforts to strengthen Phil Parkinson’s side, Wrexham are currently expanding the Racecourse’s capacity to more than 18,000.

The Red Dragons have been patient in the January transfer window, but it now appears as though they are ramping up their recruitment efforts.
Football Insider revealed on Monday Parkinson went to watch Wrexham transfer target Sidiki Cherif in action for French club Angers in their goalless draw against Paris FC on Sunday (25 January).
It was reported last week Wrexham had submitted a £19m bid to sign Cherif, with an offer in that region enough to break the Championship record if the deal were to go through.
However, the 19-year-old striker has also attracted interest from Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Wrexham are looking to strengthen their attacking options before the window closes on 2 February as they go in pursuit of a fourth promotion on the bounce.
Parkinson’s side moved up to sixth in the Championship table following their dramatic 3-2 victory over QPR on Saturday (24 January).
