Xavi Simons responds to Lutsharel Geertruida’s ‘special’ Sunderland message
Tottenham star Xavi Simons has responded to a message shared by Lutsharel Geertruida, after the Sunderland new boy made his Mackems debut.
Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Spurs are considering signing Dennis Cirkin from Sunderland.
The 23-year-old left Tottenham in favour of the North East club back in 2021, and he has helped the Black Cats climb back to the Premier League from League One.
Regis Le Bris strengthened his left-back options in the summer transfer window, as Sunderland signed Arthur Masuaku and Reinildo.

During the summer transfer window, Chelsea re-called Marc Guiu from his loan with Sunderland, thanks to Liam Delap’s injury and Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich.
However, the Black Cats have earned four points from their last two Premier League games, with a win over Brentford and a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.
The goalless draw with the Eagles on Saturday, 13 September, saw Sunderland new boy Geertruida make his Mackems debut as a late substitute.
Geertruida took to Instagram on Sunday, 14 September to share: “Trust the process, trust God’s plan. Premier League debut for this special club, on to more.”
Fellow Netherlands international and Tottenham summer signing Simons responded to the 25-year-old’s message, as he commented: “TTP.”
Regis Le Bris achieves vital feat at Crystal Palace
Sunderland showed early signs that they can compete in the Premier League this term by defeating West Ham United 3-0 in their opening fixture.

Burnley (A) | 2-0 L |
Brentford (H) | 2-1 W |
Crystal Palace (A) | 0-0 D |
However, Le Bris’ men soon suffered a damaging loss in their first away game of the season, losing 2-0 at Burnley on 23 August.
The Wearside outfit subsequently bounced back with a 2-1 win over Brentford in their last game before the international break, thanks to late goals from Enzo Le Fee and Wilson Isidor.
However, question marks still remained over how Sunderland would fare in their second away fixture of the season against Crystal Palace.
Le Bris has achieved a vital feat by guiding the Black Cats to their first away point of the season, via a goalless draw with the Eagles.
Their point at Palace will give Sunderland the confidence they need ahead of upcoming trips to Nottingham Forest and Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Le Bris’ side have been urged to be careful with PSR in a Mackem News exclusive.
