Xavi Simons sends message as Ligue 1 transfer finalised

Xavi Simons has had a tough time since joining Tottenham in the summer.

The attacking midfielder was Spurs’ star signing in the summer, as he was given the number seven shirt, formerly held by Son Heung-min.

However, despite Simons recently scoring past Brentford and Slavia Prague, performances have been mixed.

Last game, Simons was sent off against Liverpool, and has now been given a three-match suspension in the Premier League.

Now, the Spurs attacker has reacted to the news that his former teammate, Amadou Haidara, has joined Lens.

Xavi Simons sends Amadou Haidara a message as he completes Lens move

With the January transfer window quickly approaching, multiple clubs will be looking to complete deals, including Tottenham.

One move that has already gone through is Haidara to Lens.

The Mali international completed the move from RB Leipzig, Simons’ former club.

The duo had been teammates between 2023-25, before the attacking midfielder moved to Tottenham in the summer.

As a result of the move, Haidara posted on his Instagram on 23 December, expressing his delight that it could be completed.

Multiple people reacted to the post, including Simons, who put: “Do you answer the phone anymore?”

What are Tottenham’s plans in the January transfer window?

With other clubs now beginning to make moves in January, Spurs supporters will be keen to see new additions come into the North London club.

Reports last month suggested that Tottenham wanted a winger and striker in the winter window, with Antoine Semenyo heavily linked.

However, these plans could now be affected, with Fabio Paratici now linked with a Tottenham departure, just months after rejoining Spurs.

If the sporting director were to depart, it could heavily affect the North London club’s plans in the transfer market as they look to pull themselves out of their current sticky situation.

However, only time will tell if Spurs are able to have a successful January transfer window and get their current campaign back on track.
