Yoanne Wissa reacts to Christian Norgaard announcement at Brentford
Yoanne Wissa reacted to Brentford’s new announcement on social media concerning his teammate and captain Christian Norgaard.
Fears were growing over the Denmark international’s future, with his contract expiring at the Gtech Community Stadium despite playing a key role for Thomas Frank‘s side since 2019.
The midfielder has earned plenty of plaudits during his time with the Bees, with Everton taking an interest in Norgaard on a potential free transfer this summer, and it is clear to see why.
Norgaard, alongside the likes of Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo and Mikkel Damsgaard, has helped Frank’s team to climb to 11th in the Premier League table, currently losing just one of their last five matches.
Despite the ongoing speculation around his next destination, the Bees look to have silenced those concerns heading into the summer transfer window.
Christian Norgaard puts pen to paper on new Brentford deal
Posting on Instagram, Brentford wrote: “We’re delighted to announce that club captain Christian Norgaard has signed a new contract, keeping him with us until 2027,” with praise emojis.
Showing support for his teammate, Wissa liked the post, with uncertainty only growing over the midfielder’s future ahead of the summer transfer window.
Thomas Frank ties down key player ahead of summer transfer window
While the Bees have an incredible chance to finish the Premier League season on a high, even potentially finishing in a European qualification spot, fans have already started to worry about the summer.
Football Insider understands that Arsenal and Newcastle United are interested in Mbeumo, having notched 15 goals and five assists in the league, becoming one of many exit-linked players.
With Frank’s side just three points off the top half of the table, there is certainly a chance of European qualification this season with just nine matches left to play, but they face a lot of competition.
Premier League standings | Points |
9. Aston Villa | 45 |
10. Bournemouth | 44 |
11. Brentford | 41 |
12. Crystal Palace | 39 |
However, a number of big-name players are being linked with moves away during the summer and this could seriously impact how well they can do next season, which makes for great concern in London.
Having been knocked out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup earlier in the campaign, all eyes will be on finishing as high up the league table as possible, with a key clash against Newcastle up next.
