‘Yoane Wissa will end up at Tottenham – he can’t turn them down now’

Tottenham have been tipped to complete their pursuit of Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa this summer.

The DR Congo international has attracted a lot of interest after scoring 19 goals and picking up five assists in the Premier League last season.

Newcastle United have been linked with the Bees forward, but Tottenham have emerged as the frontrunners in the race.

If the 28-year-old does make the move to North London, he will be linking up with former boss Thomas Frank, who left Brentford to join Spurs last month.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes the fact that Frank has managed to build such a good relationship with Wissa will make it very hard for the attacker to turn Tottenham down.

‘Wissa is a big upgrade for Tottenham’

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Wissa will end up at Tottenham by the end of the transfer window.

He wouldn’t be their first high-profile signing of the summer either, with Spurs recently confirming the addition of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham.

Wyness added that Wissa could be an upgrade to Frank’s current squad, as the Danish manager continues to bolster his ranks ahead of his maiden season in charge.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Wissa is another one that I think will end up at Spurs. I think he’ll cost a little bit less than Kudus.

“Frank has managed to keep such a great relationship with his players while he was at Brentford. He’s so well respected that I think when he calls, it’s very hard for those players to turn him down.

“They all enjoy working for him and they can see what an ambitious project he’s building at Spurs. I think Wissa could be an upgrade.”

Tottenham make Udogie exit decision

Meanwhile, Tottenham are reportedly planning to turn down any offers for Destiny Udogie in the summer transfer window.

That is according to their former scout Mick Brown, who claims that the 22-year-old is a key part of Frank’s plans.

Despite growing interest from clubs in Europe, including the likes of Juventus, Spurs are in a strong position to turn down any offers for the left-back.

This comes after Football Insider revealed in April that Tottenham are confident of keeping Udogie while Manchester City were keeping tabs on his situation.
