Yosuke Ideguchi could quit Celtic in January after latest – pundit
Alan Hutton has backed Yosuke Ideguchi to leave Celtic in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers defender insisted things have not worked out for Ideguchi at Parkhead.
According to the Sun (8 December), several J-League clubs are monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation and he could quit as early as next month.
The midfielder has suffered an injury-plagued spell with the Hoops and has started just one game since making the move from Gamba Osaka in January.
Ideguchi has fallen way down the pecking order with the Green and Whites with Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, Aaron Mooy, David Turnbull and Oliver Abildgaard all ahead of the Japanese player.
The midfielder was in the starting lineup for the Hoops last month when they took on Sydney FC in a friendly during their mid-season break.
Postecoglou’s side could now look to cash in on the centre-mid to facilitate new signings, despite his contract running until 2026.
Hutton suggested a January exit could be the best scenario.
“Only the manager will really know,” he told Football Insider.
“He sees him day in day out. He has not played much. He is probably not better than what is on the pitch.

“There are a lot in front in the pecking order. It is really up to him, does he want to sit there and try and fight knowing that he is rarely going to get minutes or is there an opportunity to go somewhere else and get game time.
“It is a situation that he is going to have to talk over with the club but at this moment in time it does not seem to be working out.“
