Danny Mills has tipped Manchester City to swoop for Harry Kane as a long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England defender is convinced that Tottenham could have their hands full fending off interest in not only Christian Eriksen in the forthcoming transfer windows.
Eriksen told the Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet that he wants to take on a new challenge at another club this summer and made clear his intentions by claiming suitor “Real Madrid is a step up” from his current employers.
Mills suggested the futures of the playmaker’s superstar teammates, including talisman Kane, is also up in the air because of the kind of offers that will come their way.
“It’s very difficult when big clubs come knocking,” Mills told Football Insider. “If somebody comes to you and says, ‘I will give you three times as much money to play football for us’, it is very difficult to not at least think about it.
“It could be a club who are challenging for trophies. If you are in Kane’s situation, Manchester City are going to need a replacement for Sergio Aguero soon and you can be certain they will be looking at him.
“These Spurs players are at the level where they have the choice of which club they want to play for. There are options open to them.”
Kane and Eriksen have both been central figures in the team that has established itself as a Champions League regular under Mauricio Pochettino and reached the final of this year’s competition.
Pochettino has spoken frequently in recent weeks of the club’s need to show ambition to keep hold of their star men, including himself.
