‘You can’t not love Cole Palmer’ – CBS pundits in stitches at classic Chelsea post-match interview that’s a new ‘meme’
Cole Palmer provided the CBS Sports panel with plenty of entertainment in his post-match interview after Chelsea lost at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Thanks to Harry Kane’s brace and Trevoh Chalobah’s own goal, Bayern defeated Chelsea 3-1 on 17 September.
Palmer’s goal on 29 minutes initially reduced the Blues’ deficit to 2-1, but Kane’s second-half goal secured the victory for the hosts.
Meanwhile, Palmer saw a late effort ruled out for offside, ensuring that Bayern maintained their two-goal advantage.

Cole Palmer provides ‘meme’ response in Chelsea post-match interview
Amid their ongoing campaign, Chelsea are vying to get rid of Raheem Sterling, who did not secure his move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, speaking live on CBS Sports on 17 September, Palmer said: “I thought we played well, to be fair.
“The three goals that we conceded were our own fault and not good enough, but I feel like we had chances, and the game could have been different, in my opinion.
“I think we broke them down well, to be honest. I think we had chances, maybe the final pass, or some chances we missed, we should have scored.
“But obviously, they’re a good team, and we knew it would be difficult. But we deserved better than what we got.”
At the beginning of the interview, Palmer produced a meme-like facial expression as he gazed at the interviewer, looking somewhat fed up.
CBS pundit Jaydee Dyer responded: “I’m telling you now, I can see the Caribbean in him every time he talks.
“As a Caribbean on set, I see Cole Jermaine Palmer every time he talks, because he’s just cool. Don’t push yourself too far.
“I don’t want to talk too much. Let your feet do the talking for me. I just love it when he talks because we talk about players all the time, how they’re robots or they give you these machine media answers.
“When I see someone express themselves like this, that’s a meme right there. You can’t tell me that’s not a meme.
“That will be in a group chat instantly tomorrow. That’s a meme.”
Enzo Maresca needs an upturn in form
As alluded to by Palmer, Chelsea were playing against a top-class Bayern Munich side, who sit top of the Bundesliga after winning three games from three top-flight fixtures this term, before their Champions League victory.
Chelsea’s next three fixtures | All competitions 2025/26 |
Manchester United (A) | 20/09, Premier League |
Lincoln City (A) | 23/09, EFL Cup |
Brighton (H) | 27/09, Premier League |
However, Blues boss Enzo Maresca still needs a turnaround, as the West Londoners have now failed to win in two attempts, having been held to a 2-2 draw with local rivals Brentford in their last Premier League game before their defeat in Munich.
Maresca’s men travel to Manchester United on Saturday, 20 September, and require a win to keep pace with title rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.
Defending Premier League champions Liverpool boast a 100 per cent winning record in the top flight.
Contrastingly, Arsenal have bounced back well from last month’s defeat at Anfield, with victories over Nottingham Forest and Athletic Club in the Premier League and Champions League, respectively.
Therefore, Chelsea must yield a positive result from their upcoming trip to Old Trafford.
