Rangers expected XI v St Johnstone: 25-year-old returns in double change

COMMENT

Graeme Murty is expected to make two changes to his starting XI when Rangers take on St. Johnstone at Ibrox on Saturday.

Young midfielder Jamie Barjonas is expected to return to the bench with Ryan Jack available and the injured Kenny Miller is likely to have his spot taken by Portuguese winger Daniel Candeias.

Thanks to a bizarre quirk of the Scottish FA’s disciplinary rules, Jack, 25, is available after completing two games of his three-match suspension before the third kicks in on December 17th.

Wes Foderingham is almost certain to keep his place in goal behind the Light Blues’ back four of James Tavernier, Bruno Alves, Danny Wilson and Declan John.

Ross McCrorie is expected to continue at the base of Rangers’ midfield diamond after his recent performances with Jack and Jason Holt reunited in the middle of the park.

Candeias is likely to come back into the side after Miller was stretchered off in the win over Hibs and could fill the number 10 role for the Gers.

The Ibrox giants will be looking to extend their current winning streak to five games and continue to put pressure on Celtic before the sides meet on December 30th.

The Gers are currently in second place in the Scottish Premiership and trail leaders Celtic by five points.
