Youri Tielemans deal now ‘inevitable’ as timeframe shared for Aston Villa agreement

Aston Villa are set to receive a huge boost as Youri Tielemans looks increasingly likely to sign a new contract.

The Belgian’s importance to the Villans has grown exponentially since he arrived on a free transfer from Leicester City back in 2023, and he has been a key part of their excellent start in the Premier League this term.

Tielemans netted the winner for Aston Villa in their 2-1 win away at Basel in the Europa League on Thursday night, prompting fans to rave about the quality that he provides on social media after the game.

The midfielder is a much-loved figure at Villa Park, and his popularity among the supporters clearly also extends to Unai Emery and the club hierarchy.

Aston Villa to address Youri Tielemans’ future ‘in the coming weeks’

Tielemans has unsurprisingly become a mainstay for Aston Villa since his return from injury at the start of November, and his performances now look set to be recognised by the club.

The 28-year-old is out of contract in the summer of 2028, but he now looks set to become the next in a long line of stars to pen fresh terms with the second city outfit.

Morgan Rogers, John McGinn, Lucas Digne, Tyrone Mings and Matty Cash have all committed their futures to the Villa project since the start of the season, and now it appears that Tielemans’ turn to sign on the dotted line is rapidly approaching.

It now seems “inevitable” that Villa will sit down with the ex-Monaco man to discuss a new deal in the near future, according to John Percy.

The Telegraph journalist understands that Emery and Co. are “determined” to tie down the main bulk of their squad amid their ongoing issues with PSR, and a new deal for Tielemans is seemingly next on the agenda.

Emery views him as “one of the best professionals he has ever worked with,” and trying to secure his future “in the coming weeks” is seen as a priority.

Tielemans extension to spark Lamare Bogarde January exit

Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this week that Brighton are plotting a move for Lamare Bogarde in the January transfer window.

The Seagulls regard the 21-year-old Villa man as a player with huge potential for the future, who has found domestic game time hard to come by so far this season.

Bogarde has managed just three starts for the Villans in the Premier League in 2025-26, and is competing for a place with some very experienced and high-quality players in the middle of the park.

If Tielemans were to solidify his position at Villa even further by signing a new deal, then it could provide all the incentive that Bogarde needs to try and get himself out of the door in January.

Throw in the fact that Villa still need to find ways to address their PSR standing, and they may become open to a sale, even to a divisional rival.
