Yves Bissouma sends emotional message after confirmed exit from Tottenham

Yves Bissouma was left emotional in a message on social media following an exit being confirmed at Tottenham.

Bissouma endured a frustrating 2024/25 season, with his role becoming increasingly uncertain under Ange Postecoglou. Limited game time and inconsistency saw the midfielder fall down the pecking order, sparking speculation over his long-term future at the club.

Former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Tottenham would be open to selling Bissouma this summer—suggesting a departure could be on the cards as the club reshapes its midfield options.

Despite his personal struggles, Tottenham finished the season on a high, lifting the Europa League trophy with a dramatic win over Manchester United. The victory marked the end of the club’s 17-year wait for silverware, sparking celebrations among fans and players alike.

However, even with the feel-good atmosphere surrounding Spurs at the end of the campaign, the club confirmed a departure that drew emotional reactions.

Yves Bissouma reacts as Tottenham sack Ange Postecoglou

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 1 June that Ange Postecoglou would be sacked by Tottenham, and by 6 June, the club officially confirmed the news.

Multiple players such as James Maddison and Richarlison sent an emotional tribute to Postecoglou and the Mali international has also now took to Instagram to send a heartfelt message.

His message was met with plenty of support, with likes from teammates such as Destiny Udogie and Dominic Solanke as Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo also acknowledged the post.

Although Bissouma’s role diminished under Postecoglou—making just 16 Premier League starts and collecting 12 yellow cards across 2,500 minutes—his message made clear he still held respect for the Australian and the moments shared under his leadership.

Despite Tottenham fans slamming the decision to sack Postecoglou and the players seemingly backing the Australian, the hierarchy have wasted no time in lining up his successor.

Football Insider reported on 7 June that Spurs are now closing in on the appointment of Brentford manager Thomas Frank.

Frank is believed to be the leading candidate for the job, with the Brentford boss making it clear he would be open to a move to North London. His strong track record in the Premier League and reputation for player development have clearly impressed Spurs decision-makers.

It remains to be seen whether a deal will be finalised, but Tottenham appear determined to move quickly as they prepare for another crucial rebuild.
